Footsteps to Phonics
This evidence informed professional development package will support early years provision to ensure that children experience high quality pre-phonics practice to support their readiness to access formal phonics teaching in school.
This package includes:
- an introductory webinar that outlines the aim and rationale of the package
- one half day face to face training workshop to explore what comes before phonics, why and how pre-phonics skills can be developed through both learning environments and playful activities
- an interim virtual one-hour workshop to introduce a Footsteps to Phonics audit tool to reflect on current pre phonics practice and identify areas for development
- one half day face to face training workshop that focuses on phonemic awareness
- final face-to-face evaluative surgery session that will allow opportunities to celebrate developments of pre-phonic practice and share examples of success. In addition, further support, and discussion on how the audit can be used to support ongoing evaluative pre-phonics practice
- access to two thirty-minute pre-recorded webinars that explore a wide range of age-appropriate play-based activities to support pre-phonics skills.
This programme can be purchased for in house delivery for a maximum of 25 delegates.
