It is essential that all early years staff can recognise, respond to and refer online safety concerns within their setting in order to safeguard children in their care. Ofsted’s ‘Inspecting safeguarding in early years, education and skills settings’ handbook recommends that ‘all members of staff should be provided with online safety training’.
This course provides Early Years practitioners with a basic awareness of how young children use technology, the potential risks online and how they can manage and minimise these risks. It explores implications for staff use of technology, how to keep staff safe online and how to refer concerns. It also contains references to local and national guidance, as well as signposting to useful support and resources.
