Brief Overview

Alex's twilight session is an interactive and accessible exploration of the national writing gap. He explores the gap - how it influences attainment in every classroom throughout the key stages. Alex offers a clear model to address the writing gap, with dynamic strategies to address issues, such as spelling, skilled sentence writing, along with editing and self-regulated writing.

Biography

Alex Quigley is Head of Content and Engagement at the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) - an educational charity. In his role at the EEF, he supports content development to ensure it meets the needs of school leaders and teachers. He also leads the school engagement function, listening to the profession understanding their pressures, priorities and practices.

Alongside this, Alex is an educational consultant, providing training and consultancy to schools and related organisations, with specialisms related to his new book, ‘Closing the Writing Gap’, reading, vocabulary, literacy, school improvement, teaching and learning, and more.

In addition to the day job, he is the author of edu-books for Routledge: including best-selling ‘Closing the Gap’ literacy trilogy, as well as ‘The Confident Teacher'.

He writes a regular blog at www.theconfidentteacher.com and is a regular columnist for TES and Teach Secondary magazine.
