Brief overview

This course aims to assist class teachers of Years 3 and 4 to move pupils to the age-related standard in writing, where that is appropriate for the children. Teachers will consider the most effective pedagogies and activities to help the children reach their potential, including elements such as handwriting, spelling and sentence structure.

They will also have the opportunity to engage in online discussion with teachers from other schools, considering the challenges their pupils face and possible next steps. The focus will be limited to pupils moving from WTS to EXS.

To have a secure knowledge of the age-related standard in years 3 and 4.
Consider your pupils’ problems or barriers to success.
To know and share some teaching strategies which are effective when teaching writing.
Find a way forward from WTS to EXS.
