Session 6 with Mary Priestly - What Headteachers Need To Know About Strategic Planning - Writing Your Self-Evaluation and School Development Plan

This session is part of the KCC Induction programme which is a key component of the Kent Leadership strategy and an important way of supporting leaders’ development.  The programme is aimed at all new Headteachers in Kent and is relevant to Primary, Secondary and Special Schools.

The programme is comprised of a sequence of six sessions which take place termly. It is flexible allowing Headteachers to join at any point over the year.

Participants will receive training that will support them with writing their School Development Plan and Self Evaluation in the morning session. There is an opportunity to stay in the afternoon to work on these strategic documents, with some headspace and support from the course facilitator, Fran.

Learning outcomes

The strategic planning session, relevant to headteachers from the maintained and academy sectors, will focus on:

  • Planning for the next academic year - developing and updating your SEF and SIP.
  • Sharing your SEF and SIP with the school community.
  • Considering how your SEF/SIP drives performance management objectives, aligning a plan for continued professional development.
