Key Stage Two Moderator Training

Brief overview

This full-day, face-to-face workshop is designed to prepare teachers to confidently lead end-of-Key Stage 2 (KS2) moderation meetings. Whether you are leading moderation within your own school or acting as a county moderator across other schools, this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in your role.

Pathway to Becoming a County Moderator:

Upon completing the workshop, participants will be invited to take the STA assessment. Those who pass will have the opportunity to apply to become a county moderator, helping ensure consistent assessment standards across schools.

Learning outcomes

  • How to lead KS2 moderation meetings in line with current STA assessment guidance and materials.
  • Best practices for assessing and moderating student work to ensure consistency with national standards.
  • To develop a deeper understanding of the TA framework and how it should be applied during the assessment of writing.
  • How to prepare for the DFE moderation exercise.
