Brief Overview

A subject knowledge course for teachers in Years 1-4 to prepare pupils for the Year 4 Multiplication Screening Check (MSC). This course will focus on the teaching of multiplication facts to develop the fluency required in Year 4 to pass the screening check.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain a clear understanding of the phases of development for the teaching of multiplication facts.
  • Plan a logical sequence for introducing and learning each multiplication table.
  • Recognise the broad range of resources that can be used to master multiplication.
  • Plan how to use the counting stick to develop fluency in multiplication facts.
