This course provides refresher training for existing Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) in Kent who are required to update their DSL training every two years. This training provides delegates with an update on changes in national policies and guidance and will revisit DSLs knowledge and confidence in carrying out their role.
This course is delivered by experienced trainers from the LADO Education Safeguarding Advisory Service (LESAS) who have a sound knowledge of social work and schools/colleges and will meet the needs of delegates by enabling discussion, debate and challenge on the varied views on practice, ethics and policy through practical case studies.
DSLs in school/colleges where children live outside of Kent can access this course, however, will need to undertake independent research to ensure they understand their own local guidance and processes. Delegates should ensure they are familiar with Keeping Children Safe in Education and the KSCMP Support Level Guidance.
Full attendance (09:30-16:30) is required to receive a certificate of attendance; late arrival or leaving early may mean that certificates are withheld. A light lunch is provided.

There were plenty of examples and discussions that were relevant to our school and students. The topics were covered in a way to make you reflect on your practise. Definitely a worthwhile course.”
“Delivery was excellent with a focus on scenarios that prompted curiosity and discussion amongst the group.”
“Would recommend this session to anyone refreshing DSL training”
