Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Schools conference is for Primary and Secondary senior leaders.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are critical components of a healthy school culture. A focus on EDI creates a welcoming, supportive environment where every student and staff member can thrive and a cohesive school community can develop. Part of this work is about helping pupils to feel comfortable with difference . In light of this we are very happy to introduce our keynote speaker Dr Lindsey Cameron Associate Professor in Psychology Lead Academic Adviser, School of Psychology at Christ Church Canterbury and Researcher in Residence for The Linking Network.
Lindsey will be speaking about social contact theory and successful strategies to make children more comfortable with difference - learning alongside pupils with different views, life experiences, cultures and needs.
Our second Keynote speaker is Jade Barnett, Co-Founder of Power2Prevail. Jade entered the care system at the age of 15 and was moved from London to a children's home in Blackpool away from her family and friends just before her GCSE's. She felt alone and a misfit and let down by the care system. Now Jade is back in Lewisham and is striving to change the system with her social enterprise Power2Prevail Community which supports disadvantaged young people to see that their circumstances don't define them. Jade will be speaking about how to promote an inclusive learning culture and environment for ALL of your learners whatever their starting points or presentation!
We will also be joined by Primary and Secondary leaders with their own experiences to share. Do come along and join us - this invitation INCLUDES YOU!
