Introduction to Supporting Pupils with SEMH

Audience: Secondary School Teaching Assistants
  • Key Stage 3
  • Key Stage 4
  • Key Stage 5

This bitesize E-learning course provides an introduction to supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and is aimed at teaching assistants, and teachers in secondary school settings.

SEMH is the fastest growing SEND diagnosis in the country and considering the nature of a teaching assistant role and their close contact with young people, it's becoming more important that the understanding and support available is of the highest quality.

Within this course, the user will learn tools and techniques to support them in building positive relationships with harder-to-reach students. By understanding students' needs and their backgrounds, users are more equipped to guide higher aspirations within the classroom.

The Secondary School Improvement Team also offers bespoke support for schools. Please follow this link for further information.
