The Inspirational Practice in Early Years and Childcare Award is a quality enhancement scheme for early years providers to further develop the quality of care and education, strengthen leadership for learning and further improve outcomes for children and families. The scheme is open to schools, private, voluntary and independent settings, out of school settings and childminders working with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and beyond.
 
A self-evaluation tool is offered upon expression of interest to consider the ‘readiness’ for the award.
 
The award commences in the autumn term and takes ten months to complete. Providers submit a reflective log and an evidence folder and undertakes an action research project to develop the quality of care and education by investigating and implementing enhancements and evaluating outcomes to consider the impact for children

The action research follows the new Education Inspection Framework of ‘Intent’, ‘Implementation’ and ‘Impact’ to enhance and strengthen the quality of care and education in a specific area of practice.
