To ensure there is a consistency of approach and staff feel supported in responding to both positive and negative behaviour for learning, there needs to be a clear, robust policy in place which staff understand and follow. A good behaviour for learning policy is a strategic starting point on a journey which will lead to staff and children feeling happy, safe and valued, whatever their ability or need.
By the end of the session, school leaders should be feeling empowered to develop their own policy having discussed and looked at: up to date guidance; clear strategies for supporting positive and negative behaviour for learning; serious incidents; and some non negotiable expectations relating to adults being the role models.
