I am totally committed to early years; I am a passionate believer that every child deserves the very best start in life and hope that I contribute to making a difference to positively improving children’s childhood experiences. I have developed a wealth of knowledge and experience since beginning as a childminder in 1995. I have held numerous roles including a pre-school Deputy Manager, Lay Person for Medway Safeguarding Children’s Board, Trainer and Tutor for National Childminding Association (NCMA), Childminding Development Worker for Professional Association for Early Years (PACEY), Quality Adviser for Prospects, Chair of Governors for an Independent School and Ofsted Early Years Inspector.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Years, Early Years Professional Status (EYPS), BA in Early Years Leadership, Lifelong Learning Teaching Diploma (DTLLS) and Qualified Teaching in Learning & Skills (QTLS). I have also attended many other trainings covering a wide range of topics including coaching and mentoring, safer recruitment, Family and Childcare Environment Rating Scales (FCCERS) and The Curiosity Approach.

I joined The Education People in 2018 as a Childminding Adviser, supporting childminders in all aspects of their business including delivering the free entitlement, the EYFS statutory requirements, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and overall driving the improvement the quality of teaching.

Originally, I was a registered childminder, who delivered free education funding through a Childminding Network. I joined The National Childminding Association (NCMA) in 2008 to become a Network Coordinator, supporting childminders in Swale. Throughout the change of service providers to support childminders in Kent, I have stayed within the role for the last 14 years, now as a Childminder Adviser with The Education People.

I have a level 4 Childcare qualification and a level 5 Diploma in Education and Training, allowing me to deliver training to childminders throughout the country.

I have a strong passion for childminding and providing support to childminders to develop their practice and settings.

Personally, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Couple this with sunshine, good food and a drink and I am a happy Sharon!

Previously from a childminding background, I originally joined KCC as an Information Officer working for the Children and Families Information Service.

In 2004 I left this role to work for the National Childminding Association, setting up a Support Childminder scheme in Kent. I have remained in a role supporting childminders ever since working for PACEY, Prospects and now The Education People and really enjoy my work with childminders in Kent.

During my time I have gained a Cert Ed teaching qualification and a BA Hons Degree in Early Years Leadership and Management.
Outside of work I love spending time with my family, walking my dogs and pottering in my garden when the sun is shining.
