What is the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme?

The HAF Programme offers families of children aged 4 to 16, who are eligible for benefits related free school meals (FSM), free opportunities to access a range of activities in the Easter, summer, and Christmas holidays. If you are not sure if you are eligible, please use the eligibility checker:

When is the Programme Available?

The programme runs for one week at Easter, four weeks over the summer and one week at Christmas.

What Can I Expect When I Go?

Each programme will provide a range of exciting activities and games, and a healthy main meal. In addition, there will be a range of enjoyable and interesting opportunities for children to try new things and make new friends. There will also be ideas about how to source high quality, healthy food cheaply, creative ways to encourage a healthy diet and fun ways to cook.

How Are Children with Additional Needs Included?

All the programme partners are committed to making their programme accessible for a wide range of children. Providing the programme with good information about your child and their needs will enable them to ensure that your child is fully included and can enjoy the opportunities that are offered.

Easter HAF Activities at Bewl Water Outdoor Centre

Bewl Water Outdoor Centre is a Holiday Activities and Food destination this Easter. We are offering a programme that will include taking part in a wide range of outdoor learning activities including:

  • canoeing
  • sailing
  • climbing
  • archery and axe throwing
  • low ropes and Challenge course
  • team building and problem solving
  • orienteering and map work
  • bushcraft and campfire cooking.

The exact programme will be based on the weather, ages and ability of the groups.


The sessions will be taking place during the Easter holidays on the following dates:

  • 4, 5, 6 and 7 April 2022 and
  • 11, 12, 13 and 14 April 2022.


Drop off is at 9.30am,
Pick up is at 3.30pm.

What to Bring?

Clothing: All specialised equipment will be provided including waterproofs. Children just need to bring warm and old clothes and footwear for the activities that can get wet and muddy, and a change of clothes and footwear to go home in.


Children will be provided with a nutritious lunch, along with healthy snacks and drinks throughout the day.

Parents will need to complete the All About Me form (blue button below) with their children's medical/special needs details and dietary requirements, along with a parents emergency contact details.
