Growing Metacognitive Learners in Primary Maths and English

Event Date: Available to download

This one hour recorded webinar session will explore the thinking behind successful learning and how we can develop each pupil's metacognitive skills to enable them to take charge of their own development.

Children have become more adept problems solvers in lockdown, so how can we harness this increasing independence to encourage them to become more reflective learners?

This webinar session, along with the accompanying 'train the trainer' slides, will explore the thinking behind successful learning and how we can develop each pupil's metacognitive skills to enable them to take charge of their own development.

Objectives:

  • Understand the term metacognition and consider what this entails in the classroom.
  • Recognise the ‘toolkit’ that we need to support our pupils to construct to enable them to work metacognitively.
  • Explore a range of Maths and English tasks and consider the tools pupils will need to use and apply to be successful.
