Effective Questioning for Teaching Assistants

Questioning is one of the most important skills that those working with students need to develop.

Far more than just an ability to ask questions, effective questioning is about understanding what type of question to ask at a given time for maximum impact. This session develops an understanding of the importance of questioning, examines some theoretical ideas around the topic, and looks at a wide range of different questioning exercises that can be employed with students.

What delegates said

"It was a great introduction into how to encourage children to access their own information and ideas through the phrasing of questions." Boughton Monchelsea Primary School

"The course is colourful and eye-catching and easy to navigate.  I liked the frequent activities, checking understanding of the sections just covered."  Sussex Road

"Some brilliant concepts that I hadn't even thought about. I hadn't thought about questioning as a game as such, but totally see how our children would view that. I also loved the 'finishing is not the goal, learning is'." John Wesley CEM Primary School

This module should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
