We have developed the following two E-learning courses to help inform practice in your schools and provide staff with the knowledge they need to meet the needs of your all of your pupils. These courses are offered free of charge to schools who subscribe to the ISSK Core Package/SLA, or are available to purchase individually for £30 (+VAT) per person.

Supporting Children with English as an Additional Language

It is important that all staff in schools have a good understanding of EAL pedagogy if they are to meet the needs of children and young people who are learning English as an additional language.

This E-learning module provides guidance to both teachers and teaching assistants on how to support and engage these students, diving into a collection of effective EAL intervention strategies that are proven to accelerate progress and raise achievement.

Raising Awareness of Gypsy, Roma and Irish Traveller Communities

Schools have a duty to ensure that no group is discriminated against and that they are challenging any inequality and stereotypes that students encounter.

This E-learning module will support schools to ensure that all GRT pupils will have equality of opportunity in regard to accessing education by developing an awareness of Gypsy, Roma, Traveller culture, possible barriers to inclusion and how best to overcome these.
