Brief Overview

This half-day Zoom course will support teachers of Year 2 and English subject leaders by providing guidance on secure assessment of pupils' writing. It will continue to refer to the Teacher Assessment Framework, being a reliable and well-known benchmark and model for secure assessment, but will consider the wider picture, now that KS1 SATs are non-statutory.

Learning Outcomes

  • To become familiar with how to interpret the Teacher Assessment framework for assessing children's writing at the end of KS1, now that it is no longer statutory
  • To moderate using a national and local standard
  • To ensure that judgements are consistent
  • To check that children are on track to meet end of year expectations
  • To plan next steps in teaching and learning.
