SENCOs: Carrying out a SEND Review

Brief overview

SENCOs have a valuable, varied and demanding role in schools, having to 'fire fight' and think strategically everyday. This session aims to support SENCOs on a practical level with how to carry out a self evaluation of provision; from analysing the SEND register to assessing what kind of provision is needed. It provides SENCOs with the opportunity to discuss what works well and unpick challenges.

Learning outcomes

  • To discuss and review current practice.
  • To know how to carry out an accurate self evaluation in order to support teachers and teaching assistants to become more skilled in identifying, planning and adapting learning for children with SEND.
  • To build on knowledge and understanding regarding monitoring provision for SEND learners.
  • To share top tips and strategies to support the role.
