Brief Overview

We all know that play helps children to make sense of their world. Through play, children begin to develop an understanding of themselves and others as they explore concepts of identity, family, community & the wider world. In this introductory course you will explore the value of inclusive play, its underpinning principles rooted in children’s rights and entitlements, and how it meets the diversity of children’s needs. You will gain practical knowledge and information to help ensure your practice is full of possibilities for all children to develop, learn and thrive.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn about the principles and value of inclusive play in an early years setting.
  • Recognise that all children, including those with disabilities or additional needs, are explorers, discovers and experimenters who want and need to play.
  • Reflect and challenge your current practice and consider new ways to develop an exciting and inclusive learning environment for all children in your setting.
