Audience: Primary, Secondary
Single session
  • All

Brief overview

The session will focus on 'How to support pupils who are significantly below Age Related Expectation (ARE)'.

We will be considering the 4 broad areas of need that some pupils who are below ARE may have. We will have an overview of how communication and interaction, cognition and learning, social, emotional and mental health needs as well as sensory issues can impact learning. We will look at the executive function skills that may need to be developed in pupils who have poor function in each or some of these areas. We will also share how these strategies can be implemented as inclusive practice in the delivery of lessons.

Finally, there will be an opportunity to join a surgery session to ask questions and share strategies with other teachers to learn from and support one another.

The session is for Primary and Secondary Teachers in the early stages of their career.  Specifically - ECTs and teachers up to 5 years from completing induction.
