Developing a Responsive Pedagogy in the EYFS

Audience: Primary
Single session
  • Foundation

Brief overview

The recent OFSTED 'Strong Foundations' challenged the nature of a 'one size fits all' approach to pedagogy, especially in terms of closing the Attainment gap in the EYFS. In order for all children to flourish in EYFS Provision, educators need to be acutely aware of how they 'fine tune' their pedagogical approaches to meet the specific needs of the children they work with. This training course led by Jan Dubiel will explore how we adapt our approaches to ensure that learning and development is supported and optimized for all children in EYFS Provision.

Learning outcomes

  • Understand the importance of adapting pedagogical approaches in EYFS Provision.
  • Be able to explore the impact of their own pedagogical approaches on children's outcomes.
  • Understand how to adapt their approaches to meet the identified needs of children - especially those who are not thriving in the EYFS Provision.
  • Develop confidence in articulating the purpose and impact of their pedagogical decisions.
