An Introduction to Independent Travel Training

Audience: Secondary, Higher Education, Business
Single session
  • 18 +

Brief Overview

A one day workshop that will give staff the skills and expertise they need in order to train people with disabilities and disadvantages in using public transport independently. The course focuses on the natural method and the importance of planning before any training is undertaken, with a focus on safety and problem solving. A wide range of strategies will be covered, including delegates completing practical exercises on public transport to apply their learning.

As well as being for schools who have Job coaches and those that offer 'Supported Internships' or support during work experience, the course is also useful to non-educational bodies, anyone providing person-centred support to empower individuals on their employment journey.
