Audience: Primary
Single session
  • Primary Core Support Package
  • Key Stage 1

Brief Overview

In this one day course, teachers will explore how the non statutory assessment frameworks can be used to support and inform final Key Stage 1 assessments. Delegates will also broaden their view of assessment beyond the now non-statutory KS1 Teacher Assessment Frameworks, enabling them to assess breadth and depth across the curriculums for reading, writing and maths. Teachers will be given practical ideas to inform planning between now and the end of the year.

Delegates should ensure they have access to:

  • Teacher Assessment Frameworks at the end of Key Stage 1 for 2018/19 onwards.
  • the 2023 reading, mathematics and grammar punctuation tests and mark schemes.
Delegates may wish to have access to a sample of their pupils' evidence for writing and maths to assist with group discussions.

Learning Outcomes

  • to understand how effective assessment can inform teaching and learning in reading, writing and maths across KS1.
  • to broaden teachers' focus beyond the (non-statutory) KS1 Teacher Assessment Frameworks to encompass the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • to frame learning within the context of the (non-statutory) KS1 Teacher Assessment Frameworks.
