Education Safeguarding Service

The Education Safeguarding Service consists of education professionals and qualified Social Work England registered social workers, all of whom have extensive knowledge of safeguarding children - both in children’s social care and in a variety of education or other services.

Appreciating the difficulties faced in frontline social work practice, the team has developed a thorough understanding of legislation and statutory guidance related to child safeguarding practice specific to education services, including safeguarding in early years and in schools.

Staying true to our core social work values, the ethos of those in the education safeguarding service means we will not compromise on children’s safety - placing the welfare of the child centrally in all of our thinking.

Child Protection and Safeguarding

Over the past two decades, the Education Safeguarding Service has fostered positive relationships with safeguarding professionals from a variety of agencies. They are in a unique position to help schools and settings deal with the emerging themes in safeguarding children, such as gang-related activity, online safety, exploitation (including sexual and criminal) and honour-based abuse. This, together with a sound understanding of all basic safeguarding issues affecting children and young people, means the team is in an ideal position to support you and your staff in ensuring your learners are as safe as they can be.

Please note: The Education Safeguarding Service returned to Kent County Council (KCC) on the 1 April 2023.

The Education People will continue to work with Kent County Council to host content and provide access to high quality safeguarding advice and support for education settings from the Education Safeguarding Service.
