Home Learning Resources for KS3

English

Teachit offers lots of useful resources to provide you with creative teaching ideas and activities for your English class and inspire a love of reading.

For revision SENECA Learning is available for free for students and teachers. You can invite students to join classes or they can join themselves into any topic. SENECA covers some topics in KS3, KS4 and KS5, and a range of exam boards too. It is a revision resource so assumes the students will have had or will be having some input. You can also track students’ progress, time spent on topics and how well they are doing. This is a useful way to develop retrieval practise at home. 

English Mastery provide 12 weeks of downloadable activity workbooks for poetry and writing.

The English and Media Centre have a range of downloadable materials for use in KS3 and KS4.

Maths

White Rose Maths  provide short video lessons and activities.

Third Space Learning  provide home learning packs for Maths.

Math Playground– Maths games and activities.

Splash Learn– Skills-based maths games and activities.

IXL – Interactive maths question sets categorised by year group

Corbett Maths provide a fantastic collection of worksheets, videos and exam practice which is very user friendly

Dr Frost Maths - Dr Frost has put together a number of suggestions and ideas for remote lessons and how best to engage with students. I particularly like the exam paper set up where each student’s responses can be monitored and feedback provided. Lots of resources provided all with a free login!

Science

Century Tech provide online learning courses and assessments covering the key stage 3 and key stage 4 science curriculums. Options for either school or parent/pupil sign-up, and suitable for independent pupil use or teacher use.

The Institute of Physics (IOP) have a set of articles and resources designed to support teachers who are teaching remotely. Suitable for teacher use.

Isaac Physics has a range of online problem-solving activities and regular live video tuition to support teachers and students. The content focusses on physics but also covers some maths and chemistry. Suitable for independent student use or teacher use.

Kerboodle provide a bank of resources and assessments to support the latest AQA GCSE science courses. Core content will be relevant to all GCSE specifications but teachers using other awarding bodies may need to select appropriate resources. Suitable for teacher use.

Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) have collated a set of articles and resources designed to support teachers who are teaching remotely. Suitable for teacher use.

STEM Learning an online resource bank listing quality-assured resources on external websites. The site features a live chat function offering support from subject experts. Main resource bank suitable for teacher use. New ‘home learning support for families’ section suitable for pupil/parent use.

National Theatre at Home is a streaming service offering unforgettable British theatre available to watch any time.

Theatres may be closed, but you can watch lots of fantastic RSC shows for free!

BBC Bitesize has some materials relating to musicals and acting.

French

Oak Academy and Greenshaw Trust provide materials for Modern Foreign Languages via their YouTube channel.
