Watersport Taster Sessions at Bewl Water Outdoor Centre

These one hour sessions are open to all aged 5+ and adhere to all Government Covid-19 guidelines and social distancing measures.


Try standup paddle boarding or kayaking supervised by a qualified instructor for an experience to remember!

Bewl Water Outdoor Centre is the perfect place to spend those summer days – learning something new, challenging yourself, or just simply having fun.

These sessions are open to all aged 5+ (with parent/carer assistance for 5-8 year olds). If your child is under eight, please call us on 03000 415 200 to talk to an instructor about the best way for your child to enjoy the session safely.

  • £20 per person/hour session (hourly slots available from 10am)

What we provide: We’ll supply boards, kayaks, paddles, leashes, and buoyancy aids.

What you will need to bring: For the session, you need to wear a pair old trainers or water-sports shoes, swimwear/clothes to get wet in, a towel, and your clothes for afterwards.

When to arrive: You will need to arrive 15 minutes before your booked slot to complete associated consent forms and get changed into your personal gear for the session.

What is standup paddle boarding (SUP) ?

Stand up paddle boarding (or SUP) is a water-based sport in which participants stand on a large board and use a one-bladed paddle to propel themselves across the water. Some beginners find it easier to start out kneeling but often quickly find their feet!

We have great paddle boarding conditions here at Bewl Water Outdoor Centre. The reservoir is naturally still and therefore suitable for all levels. We also have qualified instructors supervising all of our sessions, so all you have to focus on is having fun!

What are some of the benefits of standup paddle boarding (SUP)?

Not only is SUP extremely fun, it also an amazing full body workout that engages all major muscle groups and is a great form of cardio and calorie burning. Fitness benefits aside, being out on the water allows you to leave any stresses of life on the shore and take in the beautiful scenery here.

For children, it is also a great way to educate them about the water and to develop confidence, balance and co-ordination!

Kayaking is a water-based sport which is similar to canoeing in that participants are sat in a short narrow boat and propel themselves across the water with a double-bladed paddle.
