Overview of Supported Employment

This workshop gives an overview of the whole Supported Employment process and shows you how to support employees with disabilities to thrive in the workplace.


This one day workshop is designed to give an overview of the whole Supported Employment process. It is suitable for staff who deliver the model as well as managers and decision makers interested in commissioning. The course uses a wide range of training techniques including presentations, role play, discussions, exercises and case studies. It will show you why the model works, how to support people with disabilities into employment and how to take the support away ensuring that they become valued and integrated members of the workforce.

This session will run as an interactive Zoom session. Confirmed delegates will be e-mailed the link 24 hours prior to the session. Please ensure you are able to access Zoom at least 1 hour prior to the session. Please note that Zoom courses are not recorded.

What You Will Cover...

You will first learn about the history, background and ethos that underpin the supported employment model, followed by an explanation of the 12 core values behind it.

You will then get a full overview of the five stages of support that consist of:

  • Customer engagement - The importance of the individual being included and understanding the process
  • Vocational profiling - The holistic method of assessment employer engagement - understanding how to market your service
  • Job matching - The importance of job analysis
  • In work support - A basic overview of how to provide individually tailored support.
