This conference is provided by KCC to support schools by providing an opportunity to listen, discuss and explore the implications of the proposed Ofsted Inspection Framework.
Key Speakers include:
• Sean Harford - HMI, National Director at Ofsted - Sean will provide an overview of the context for the proposed framework and share the learning from the pilot inspections conducted during the summer.
• Mary Myatt – Education Consultant. This session will consider how schools might respond to questions about the purpose and impact of their curriculum provision. It will draw on the findings from cognitive science to make the case for a curriculum underpinned by high challenge and low threat as an entitlement for all. This will help schools to be able to talk about their curriculum intent, its implementation and the impact on pupils' learning.
• Alistair Smith – Teaching with Learning in Mind: In this session Alistair will assimilate evidence from his own and others' research on learning. He will provide a coherent classroom learning model based on his findings. He will describe recent work done on improving metacognition through oracy.
As well as having the opportunity to listen to our key speakers there will be a range of workshops for delegates to choose from, including from a number of Kent Teaching Schools. Delegates will also have time to network and browse trade stands.
Places are offered free of charge to 1 delegate per school and will be confirmed on a first come first served basis. For schools wishing to book more than 1 delegate place – these will be chargeable at the standard conference rate of £185 but will only be allocated 2 weeks prior to the conference – dependent on availability.
